No doubt many of you have read or heard the terrifying news reports of horrible bushfires burning up what seems to be most of the state of Victoria
( Read more... )
These are such horrible times for you guys over there. I have been keeping a close eye on the maps available, praying the fire wouldn't reach you guys. I am so relieved to hear that you and hubby are safe and that you're taking strays and animals that need a home for now. *big hug*
We're trying to take displaced livestock, but it's hard to get to someone with sense. I'm going through friends now, not govt, and maybe we'll get somewhere!
I'm so relieved that you are all right. When Mum heard the news, we were both trembling for your safety. She knows I have a lady friend down there and always points me to the news about you folks. *hugs*
I must say, though, that I understand the lynch mobs. What kind of people would do such thing, endangering and killing hundreds of innocents? Do you share your country with the late spawn of Mordor, or whatnot?
Wait, stupid question. Of course you do. That biker club in your neighbourhood is the worse Orc den I've heard of in the recent years.
We were a little distance from these fires, but G was close at work. In fact it was him and a co worker who reported the Jeeralang fires on the Friday night before black saturday to the fire brigade. They jumped containment lines on the Saturday and away they went, for the second weekend in a row Mirboo North faced a firestorm...and we know what happened then.
Odd you mention the mention the bike club...it appears two of the as yet uncaugth arsonists may turn out to be members of that club! Funny how these things work.
Hugs to you and Mum, and thanks for caring so much.
I am so glad to hear you're ok. One of the hardest things about email is that there'd be no way of knowing if you're not ok or how we'd be able to help. Btw, do you need help? :/ Maybe setting up a paypal account so your friends online can donate to you?
Some of the stories are amazing, others tragic. It shows the best of humanity but also hints at what we've lost, people who might've become great doctors, politicians, bakers because even pastry making is a difficult skill to perfect.
Decided it's best to delete my rant on the people who did this and people who become desensitized to mass catastrophies and those who just can't judge the worth of human life anymore.
We're fine, thanks Cirdan. If you, or anyone else wishes to help with money for the victims, google the Australian Red Cross. They are co-ordinating the money and seeing it gets to victims.
I agree we've seen the worst, and the best of people here. It's a great tragedy, and I too will not rant about those whose caused.
