Listening to her tell me all the details, I was struck by how calm she was and knew that she'd been her usual competent, restrained self when Dad first ( Read more... )

That's aweful! Thankfully it was a false alarm, but the feelings like it did happen are horrible. That drive home must have been miserable. Glad everything worked out! I bet your mom had similar delayed reactions like you did. I can't imagine something as scary as a heart attack not affecting her on a deeper emotional level.

Yeah, it's pretty scary. I don't think it was life threatening, but it is worrisome that he's having heart problems again. The clog was in one of the grafted arteries from his bypass.

That's scary. I'm afraid my dad is going to have a heart attack, he's stressed out all the time and he doesn't eat that well. It worries me, but when I try to say something about it he's like "oh, I'm alright..."

My dad didn't start eating better and exercising until after he had an emergency quintuple bypass. Maybe men just make their own health a low priority. I know my dad would always come inside after working in the yard with huge, bloody gashes on his arms that he wouldn't even notice until someone pointed them out to him.

that's how my dad is too. i think there's something to be said for that, that they may take their own health/body as a low priority. perhaps how girls seem to be more vain/concerned can be good in one aspect.

i'm glad he's well!!

What the hell, dads? We daughters have to whip them into shape.
