Peanuts, that is. (Oh, I'm so clever.)

I recently found a nonprofit organization called The Full Belly Project. It was started by a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer in West Africa after he noticed that the women in Mali, which is north of Burkina Faso, spent most of their time shelling peanuts for food. Why would buying a peanut sheller, shipping it to Burkina, and then assembling it take 2 years? I can imagine it taking around 6 months from start to finish, but 2 years? How much will it cost to get it over there? I can contribute some money if you would like.

I'm glad you found that peanut sheller. I think you are really great for thinking ahead and taking the initiative on it.

I think it'll take a long time because after I ship it there, which will probably take months, I'm going to have to convince the Burkinabé in my village to use it. First I'll need to get to know them and gain their trust, which will take a long time considering the language barrier, then I'm going to have to convince them that it's a good idea and teach them how to use it. Also, things move much more slowly over there than they do over here. I really have no idea how long it's going to take, but it's not going to be easy.

I'm glad you'd like to contribute money. The equipment is going to cost me $700 and shipping will be a fortune. If you want to donate money to the organization, you can do so at their website or you can give a check to me to help me pay off my debt. Every little amount helps.
