From the land of the living comes a story of the dead

My father died in May. He had a cough that got worse over the course of a few months, and finally, when he was weeks from death, his doctors were able to locate similar cases in an old Army data base, and pronounced him terminally ill with a rare form of heart cancer ( Read more... )

When we were in the car driving home from Ensenadas, Mexico, my sister asked me (finally) why I'd been a b*tch lately. I told her I was stressing about my dad visiting. (I haven't seen him in 7 years and have only spoken to him in the last 6 months.) I told her I was worried about having to be with him for 2 weeks, about how he'll cause rifts with our other relatives (and I'd have to clean up the mess), and how alcohol won't be a solution (my dad's super religion and alcohol is a big Hindu no-no ( ... )

You sister is right. You are a really good person: loving, smart, and an awesomely talented writer. And I like your cooking.

You put the world in perspective, Jill. If I haven't already told you before, many times (if I haven't, I should have!), you are an inspiration and proof that love and good can come out of even terrible things, and that a child really can break the cycle.

*hugs*

Baby, it's all over now. You were never the problem, but, you were the one to bear wounds. How sad that he could not have found the love in his heart and faced the fear, but, he probably never knew how. Try and find one good thing about him and cling to that. He has no power over you and in his heart he knew what he did was wrong.
I'm sorry, I do know how you feel.
My love to you.

someday all that will come out in a novel, and your legions of fans will say, "gosh, this one is darker than the rest of her work so far, but we love it." however, you will not be allowed to include David in the story, b/c everyone will just complain that he's too perfect for the character and not realistic. "Well, that worked. I'm divorcing you now."

anyway, it's good to see that you seem to be coming back into your own again, although obviously this one isn't something you just shrug off. and it's good to have you back at the monkey meetings--last time you were spot-on about Crystal, and probably saved her from getting cut from the novel entirely.
