I just had a conversation like this regarding Dad the Brave. For years he's insisted that he doesn't need anyone checking up on him in his house because (follow this if you can - it's Dad the Brave reasoning, so it may be difficult) if he has a stroke or breaks a hip or something and someone is checking up on him, he will end up in a nursing home, whereas if something happens to him and no one is checking up on him, no one will find him until he is dead, which means he won't have to go into a nursing home. Of course, (a) DtB will be eighty this fall, so we are not talking about "in their 30s" (b) this seems to be a fear of loss of independence, not ordinary aging, and (c) this is DtB we're talking about.
wphiew!this is dad the brave. pease tell him we dont' wantto ever looseh im like that. not on purpose at least. definity not. i mena hello! i wanthi mto be over ninety and have ltos of time to gather anecdote-food.
Weeeeelllllll, I don't want to die young. (Anytime before 50 I consider young. 50-65 is just middle age. ;D) But I don't want to linger on for years in poor health, either. As long as I can stay (somewhat) active and my mind is strong, I want to live. But if I'm having one health problem after another and my mind is going, I want my body to follow suit.

I mean, sure, if it happens, it happens. I mean, I am in the heaven biz after all *grin*
Certainly not anything I'd want though, and I keep trying to lose weight and get the ol blood sugar down to prevent that...
