i agree with most of what you said, but i do have to clarify something about proposition 8. this prop has nothing to do with the curriculum taught in schools. i think that misconception is a huge reason as to why so many people voted in support of prop 8. all the ads in support of prop 8 used that as a scare tactic and people ate that shit up. children arent taught about marriage in the first place, so why would they all of a sudden have to be taught about same sex marriage? idk, i personally am so disappointed that it passed and that people in CA care more about chickens than they do about the basic rights of human beings
dude... so what if homosexuality is taught in schools, does that make it wrong or something? being gay has been proven to be genetic. you're right about relationships, i know i have my hardships with them but just because we have a hard time with them doesn't mean we should deprive gay couples from taking the next step in their relationship. my neighbors are gay, they've been wanting to get married for a long time, every time i would see them in the morning on my way to work with their no on prop 8 signs i'd feel like yeah... i think this election will change things. i feel so sorry for them now, they're basically being forced to live the way the state of california has classed them, just a bunch of fags.
if we cant come as far as a society so accept same sex marriage, america isn't for me anymore. im over this hate filled country, and people like you man who actually try to take apart freedoms and turn them into hateful opinions just isn't for me either.
If that's what you gathered from that then you're just as stupid as anyone else. I in no way mentioned i was for prop 8. I was saying we aren't ready as a Nation to accept homosexuality.
About 45 years ago blacks weren't even allowed to vote, not even white women. Think about it James.
dude, if you're saying people aren't ready for it you're obviously for it... so are you saying blacks shouldn't be able to get married too? im really confused man. yeah people weren't ready back then because we were lynching blacks and still doing shit that existed in the dark ages. why digress? why continue to not accept? it just doesn't add up dude.
READ WHAT THE FUCK I WROTE. I said I'm not against gay marriages. If I could have voted, I would have voted against prop 8. But the fact is, the Nation we live in is not ready for it. It takes alot more than a few petitions to gain acceptance. Acceptance that the gay community has not earned. I completely agree, It isn't fair, but wouldn't you rather the proposition was over ruled by a land slide, rather than a few votes? What exactly do you think that would have proven? As happy as the gay community may have been, the people who were for prop 8 would have been just as upset. Proving nothing.
It will take time, but it will one day be accepted. Just not now.
One can argue that gay marriage would be DIFFERENT than two heterosexual people getting married thus "civil unions" should be fine for two gays. I get it, because in whatever Catholic, or Protestant or Jew vow you preached (or were preached to), it said to go against two people of the same sex you wanna live by it, "hate the sin not the sinner". Whatever
