I decided I'd post this article I read for my english class that I thoroughly enjoyed the concept of. If you read it all, I'm very proud of you, and hope to get some real feedback on it. Thanks!
Fortunately, integrity and self-interest often coincide, as when a politician of integrity is rewarded with our votes.
ahaha.
In all seriousness though, I'm curious to as what exactly you mean by "how life should be run". Getting into human nature and morality is always going to be stormy waters, but I think you'll find that more often than not it's going to be more complicated than just having "both sides" to an issue. I see what you're trying to say, and I do think the guy gives a good template for what integrity should be, ideally, but he's running on the presumption that's there always going to be a "right" and "wrong" thing to do. All the discernment in the world won't guarantee that there won't be situations where you're fucked no matter what you do.
and honestly (hur hur), i think your comment and mine get away entirely from the main point this guy is trying to make, which is "just being a blunt asshole who always tell the truth does not make you a person of virtue" / "honesty != integrity"
I'm just talking about the whole concept of discerning and not blinding running into things. Though there will be situations where there isn't a black and white, you should at least take the time to think about it.
I started reading that for a minuite and then i realized that it was about 10,000 words long and I was forced to stop reading by virtue of it being too long
