first date ; onho
Minho had one missed call, it was a number he didn't recognized, curious he checked the voice mail message:
Um... Hi Minho? Ah... this is Jinki. We met at the uh coffee shop? I don't know if you remember... Minho chuckled, of course he remembers. Then the message continued, I was um calling... to see if you had any uh free time this week? You know, like get to know each other... and stuff. You can call me back at xxx-xxxx. Ok, bye.
Minho smiled at his phone, he actually called. After a whole week Minho had almost given up and thought Jinki wasn't even interested in Minho-- or men.
He immediately called Jinki back, suddenly he was nervous one, after the third ring he almost hung up till somebody answered. He hopes he doesn't choke up.
"Hello?" It didn't sound like Jinki.
"Hi, is this Jinki?"
"No," the person on the other like replied.
"I'm sorry I must have the wrong number."
"Who is this?"
"Minho."
"Ah, leme go get Jinki..." Minho waited, on the phone he heard, "JINKI IT'S MINHO ON THE PHONE." Then it was followed by muffled noises and grunts. Minho had waited for almost a whole minute before Jinki picked up, "Ah hi, hello Minho. This is Jinki," he sounded out of breath.
"Hi, how are you?"
"I-I'm good, an--OW! And you?"
"I'm good myself, did I catch you at a bad time?"
"No, no, perfect timing actually."
"Okay, good. I was wondering if you're free tomorrow night?"
"Tomorrow night?" There was a pause, "Um, yeah. I'm free."
"Perfect. You wanna meet at the coffee shop around 7?"
Jinki cleared his throat, "Yeah, ok."
"I'll see you then."
"Bye?"

Minho let out a sigh, that was probably one of the hardest things Minho had to do all week. One simple phone call had him nervous and sweaty.
That night he tossed and turned, not able to sleep, too anxious.
--
Minho arrived at the cafe five minutes early with flowers in his hand, he was thinking it was rather tacky and should depose them until he realised that Jinki had arrived at the same time. Minho jaw had almost fallen to the ground, he always found Jinki rather attractive but what he wore made him almost speechless, Jinki hair was styled in a fohawk, he wore black skinny jeans that fit him in all the perfect areas, and his white t-shirt was rather revealing with the neck drooping showing his collars and chest. He gulped, feeling his face getting warm.
Jinki cleared his throat, "Hi, Minho. My friend Key helped me pick out my clothes, I guess. I'm not really used to it."
And Minho should thank him later because damn. "Hey, you look great." Minho smiled, realising he was ogling him. He almost forgot the the flowers, "I picked these out for you." Minho gave them to the shorter male.
"Oh," Jinki looked pleasantly surprised, his cheeks tainted pink. "Thank you," Jinki smiled back at him.
Minho's heart swelled, his smile was just so perfect... "Did you eat yet?" Minho asked, ever since Jinki appeared his mind has been going hazy.
"Nope, I'm really hungry though," Jinki answered honestly.
"There's a restaurant nearby that opened recently and I wanted to check it out, but didn't have anyone to go with." Minho pressed his hand on Jinki's back, leading them to their destination.
The feeling in Minho's chest felt unbearable, he felt so alive like he entering into a different world. Jinki makes him feel all fuzzy inside and he just wanted to laugh and scream at the same time. But the Minho everybody knew would think he's crazy, but something about Jinki just made it feel alright to do it. It's just the first date though, so he has to be composed and act cool.
It's been so long since Minho had dated, so long that even his friends started setting up random blind dates without him knowing, upon realizing what was happening, he quickly got out the situation. All of them seemed bland, nothing stood out with them... Until Jinki came along.
--
Jinki and Minho sat in one of the quieter booths, the restaurant was busy and noisy. The waiter had already got their orders.
"So, what do you do for a living?" Minho asked, he rested his elbows on the table. The only thing he knows about the other male is just his name, number, and his favourite coffee drink.
"Oh, I'm just a teacher," Jinki shrugged like it was nothing. "And what about yourself?"
Minho leaned in a bit closer, a teacher? "Really? What do you teach?"
"High school Math and English," he nodded.
For some reason, Minho just wanted to stroke Jinki's skin it looked so smooth. And his voice was soothing too, and how he talked just made his stomach tingle, and those lips...oh, his lips...
"And what about you? You haven't said much about yourself yet." Jinki raised his eyebrows, snapping Minho back to reality.
"I'm a lawyer," he shrugged, acting cool.
"That's it?"
"Yeah."
"Oh, well I already know you were a lawyer, I thought you would put more depth to it." Jinki gave him a sly smile. "So, how old are you?"
"I'm 25," Minho answered.
Jinki made an 'o' with his lips, "I'm 27. Surprisingly I thought you were older for some reason, but I guess not." Jinki gave him a toothy smile, Minho couldn't help but smile back.
Their food had finally arrived.
--
After supper, they decided to go for a walk around the neighborhood park. And Minho's heart couldn't stop beating fast, it was like the more time he spends with this man the faster it beats. They were silent for awhile, not really knowing what to say but enjoying the weather. It didn't feel awkward, it felt almost right.
Without thinking Minho grabbed Jinki's hand.
Everything felt perfect.
Jinki cleared his throat, "You never told me about what happened at the cafe, I'm still waiting for an explanation." He halted then turned towards Minho.
"Well, Honey," Minho gave Jinki a cheeky smile. Jinki rolled his eyes and let out a chuckle. "Jonghyun was an ex of mine, we were together for a very long time, it wasn't a good relationship. After we broke up, we drifted and whenever we met each other, he'd always try to provoke me and mock me for not finding somebody as 'good' as he was. He thinks I'm obsessed with him. I got fed up with it one day, when I saw him walking to the cafe, I panicked and I asked for your help. And so, thank you."
Minho glanced at Jinki, it seemed like he was trying to put the puzzle together.
"And then, what made you want to ask me out?" Jinki asked nervously.
"It really all started when you forgot your wallet, I've seen you at the cafe a few times before so I thought I'd do a random act of kindness, but I don't know really." Minho thought about it for awhile. "I just thought you were really cute, I guess."
Jinki's cheeks turned pink for the nth time that night. Minho thought it was probably the most adorable thing ever.
Minho brought his hands to Jinki's face, slowly leaning in, he gently pressed his lips against Jinki's. Call it cliche but Minho felt all types of butterflies in his stomach, he could even feel his cheeks flushing with an embarrassing shade of pink. At that moment, he didn't care. All he cared about was those owner of those lips he was kissing. Minho pulled away, and Jinki's cheeks were still flushed, if not even more.
"Yeah, definitely cute."
