Belle Shirt

Mar 10, 2008 01:25

I'm kind of mad at myself. I sat down around 3 pm today to sew my Belle shirt. I sewed for 6 hours straight and took a break, then sewed for another hour and my Belle shirt still isn't done. I don't know if it's because I'm lining it and technically making two shirts, that I zig zaged all the edges to help with fraying, or that I'm just slow. I was ( Read more... )

its really looking lovely though, very professional! :D probably the size of the stitches and the fact you are making two shirts wiht all the edges finished is slowing you down, I wouldnt be to depressed. :)

Thank you. That is really encouraging. I think I just wasn't expecting for it to take this long. The pattern said it was easy lol.

That's looking fantastic! I can't wait to see it when it's finished :D

Don't stress too much, it's understandable that it would take a bit longer. You are making two shirts, and you are also doing princess seams, not simple darts, so that adds to time. And finishing the edges, whilst important, does also take time (which is why I LOVE my overlocker - it just zips through seams!)Don't let it get to you!

I really want to get a serger but I won't be able to do that until WAY later.

But thanks. I'm going to finish the dress on Friday. I took off from work so hopefully I will get everything done. :)

Putting in finishing touches and making two shirts and the same time---yeah, that can slow you down. Also, I've noticed I've had days where it takes FOREVER to make something that I've made before. Don't stress--it's the final product that's the most important thing!

It's looking good so far!

What pattern are you using because it looks strangely like the one I'm using right now to make my Queen of Hearts costume, lol.

I'm using Butterick 4659 for the shirt with a modified collar and McCall's 5522 for the sleeves.

I agree with lordofhaladin -- sometimes the easy things really do take the longest! They always do with me anyway. I think I'm the only person in the world who can screw up a stupidly easy poodle skirt. :-)

Your shirt is looking good though! Can't wait to see the entire finished oufit.
