Completed Costume: River Tam, Objects in Space

I finished last week but I haven't had a chance to post up pictures. The dress isn't perfect. I think the pattern came out too pink and of course the 3rd panels are not wide enough but I ended up messing up the pattern (of the dress not the fabric) so when recutting my panels I lost ALOT of the fabric. It was sad but I'm so much happier with the

Great Job on the River Tam Objects in Space dress

I've been searching the internet off and on for years for the River Tam red paisley floral print dress or information on how to create the dress pattern and find the material to make one of my own. Tonight I was browsing around again and found your journal description. You completely pulled it off! And you hand painted the material yourself - I cannot imagine how many labor intensive hours that must have taken to figure out what to draw let alone draw it. It looks amazing! You can't tell it's hand painted at all.

I have no idea where to start, but I would love to know all about how you made the dress if you don't mind sharing the story of it. Did you use a sundress pattern for cutting it or did you intuit it off of referencing multiple pictures? I can't imagine how you figured out how to paint it. You must have gone blind zooming in on the images to get the scale and shapes of paisley right.

Awesome job on it!

Doesn't look too pink IMHO, as River's looks different shades of pink/red depending on the scene lighting. :-)
