I was all set to post about tonight's Project Runway, and then I saw this:

Ann Richards has died at age 73.

I'm no expert on her life or her career, but what I knew of her I found extremely admirable and impressive. I always thought she was feisty and intelligent, a good champion for women and minorities, and, really, just plain cool.

Happy, happy birthday to the very wonderful and kind and generous, and generally all-around terrific lazlar. I'll take this opportunity to thank you for everything you have done to encourage and support me, and also to make me smile. I am so fortunate to count you as a friend and I admire you so much. I hope you have a great birthday.

I got my boots today, and not a moment too soon. Those babies had been picked over, and there were about five or six different women scouring for their size (I kept hearing everyone saying, "They will go with everything!").
