Hmm, that looks like a situation where they'll sell you the service contract but not the machine. If so, no good - the money goes away in a couple of months :(
Actually, I guess that becomes a requirement of sorts: it needs to not break down all the time like the one in our office.
On the other hand, I may have considerably more to spend than I thought, so a lifetime supply of ink/toner shouldn't be a problem.

DonorsChoose is a nice idea, but I hate their interface, for a variety of reasons:
1) It forces me to do my own homework, and I'm lazy, dammit... 2) I don't like sitting in judgement on those teachers. 2a) Seriously, it makes me feel guilty. 3) The site is dominated by a small number of teachers with lots of projects. I guess that means it works for them, which is fine, but it makes me worry that principals are going to notice that it works and start requiring teachers to bring in the donations instead of, y'know, teaching, much like the deans do here. 4) The search functionality is a mess. I would look for a math teacher who's not at a charter fraud^Wschool, and wants something other than computers, but the NOT functionality doesn't seem to be implemented.
That said, if anybody knows of a specific project or several that they're confident are good, I'm all ears...

Off the top of my head, that is.
Given your personal connections, I'd lean towards the Circus and maybe your local PBS station and schools...
