James and Rebecca have been interviewing prospective nannies all week. I didn't think any of them were good enough for Jerry, so I offered my services. James, being even more devious than yours truly, set an offer down on the table ( Read more... )

I still can't believe that he got you back looking at a field you loathed the idea of merely so that you can look after your fat little new nephew. Pick up groceries for your mother so you could visit, that I could get, but...

Perhaps I only loathed the idea of it because my father wanted me to do it so badly. It would be nice if I could do it on my own terms though, it might make James less smug.

And what happens when you get in neck-deep and recall that you also hated it on its own merits, then?

I certainly hope you'll at least start teaching the little one how to, I don't know, say the names of Lovecraftian deities or what-have-you.

Then I stop going and hopefully they'll be so impressed with my mannying that they'll let me stay until he's old enough to go to school.

I can't do nothing with my life though.

And I'll do no such thing, although I am going to make certain that his first word is Justin.

Are you too old to be a go-go dancer?

Funn that you should mention it, Terry suggested I be a naked go-go dancer the other night because it was the exact opposite of a lawyer.

I always thought bartending was more like being a psychotherapist actually.

How are you holding up then?

Serving justice straight up via the law rather than the illusion of it in a bottle or on the couch.

And we're holding up pretty well, actually. Now that the shock is over we're just relieved, though it helps that Prentice Bobbin is handling all the ugliness. Bobby said their mail service had to hire a couple of wizards just to put out fires from all the howlers.

We're also trying to decide whether to fight our sacking from the Falcons.

I saw the photos in the paper. You two looked very calm, which must have taken a lot of effort on your part.

Have you really got that many howlers? People are so disgusting.

As much as I believe in fighting for one's own personal well-being, perhaps you're better off leaving it. It's obvious they don't want you two around and I'd hate to play for a team that hated me.
