I'm not allowed to see him yet but they did let me send a few things to him. Warm clothes, socks, some books...I don't know if they'll actually give them to him or not

Perhaps a defense based on their entry in your home - while Terry didn't know that they were Ministry, finding two strange people in your home will always make you wish to defend it. It's a salient point, of protecting property. After all, the average human isn't going to ask for credentials when coming home to someone poking about his house?
