I went out and bought Terry's Christmas gift yesterday. It's quite lovely and I'm very much looking forward to giving it to him.

Shame I can't do that for a month yet. And I'm not giving out any hints so don't ask.

Steve's looking a bit fat lately. I think someone should start taking him for walks in the afternoon when I've gone to work. It ( Read more... )

You aren't any fun at all. And it's not mannerly to give out tantalising bits of news and then stay tight-lipped.

When have I ever been mannerly? It's like you don't even know me at all!

I might consider showing it to you if I can trust you to not breathe a word about it to anyone up to and including dear Terry.

I'd bet on it being less than, say, two weeks before you've accidentally or 'accidentally' dropped enough hints for me to figure out what the present is.

And I don't want to take the Dog for a walk. Isn't there, say, some brat around here who'd like to earn some pocket money, relatively easily?

I bet you a tenner you're going to be pretty fucking surprised come Christmas morning when I give it you.

The dog isn't the only one who could use a little exercise. And besides that, you love him and you know it. I know why he's gotten fat. You're going to give him an ulcer if you keep feeding him surreptitiously.

'Surreptitiously'? Have we been reading the dictionary, again, then?

I bet you back double that I won't.

And first off, I don't. Second, I don't. Third, I havent. And fourth, peptic ulcers are usually caused by the bacterium H. pylori, which hasn't a thing to do with anything related to eating. Well, H. pylori or tumours, that is.

Oh I can tell that I'm close because you've just gotten very offended and have decided to insult my intelligence in retaliation.

I bet you a hundred quid you will.

And you do, you do, you have, and don't be pedantic in an attempt to avoid the subject at hand.
