I got up early-ish today and moved the 14 concrete blocks into position behind the house. Interestingly enough, moving the blocks didn't wear me out nearly as much as trying to get the ground level using the garden rake where I was putting them.  It didn't help that by 9am it was 89F with a heat index of 100F though. After work I came home and took a short nap, then hooked the trailer up to the Miata and headed to Home Depot for some more concrete blocks.  I got some assistance this time and we loaded up 14 blocks (I wasn't sure how well the Miata would handle much more than that) and I made my way down to Jones Creek.  By the time I got there it was already ( Read more... )

Today the garbage collectors finally took away the recliner that they were supposed to pick up last Saturday. Hooray! Aside from that, not much new to report. I carried a few more items down to the house but it was already late and I was too tired from work to really do anything else. Bleh.

Today I went to the house after work and did a few things. I marked a handful of trees and shrubs that I want to remove from the yard. I removed the flood lamp assembly from the back of the house. I will probably want to do some investigating as to why it was wired the way it was, and possibly do some correcting of the wiring and junction box, and ( Read more... )

Today was a long and exhausting day at work. I had plans to take some stuff to the new house but instead I think I'm going to try to go to bed early tonight.

Tonight I hauled some of my stuff from the parents' house to my new house. I didn't do a whole lot other than that though.

Well, I slept at the new house last night. The new mattress is great so far, but I imagine that it will be better once it's on a bed frame. It will probably take some time to get used to some of the noises of the house, but I imagine that it won't take too long. Today I changed the oil in the mower and mowed the larger patches of the parents' yard, then we loaded up and took it back to Jones Creek. I did some small tasks around the house and yard while we waited for my mattress to be delivered. Today I got the entire lawn mowed at a more usual height.  It took a little over 2 hours, but I think that I can probably improve that time in the future once I work out an efficient routine.  I also did some trimming with dad's old weedeater, but I didn't trim everything that probably should have been. Didn't do much at the house today either, but I did get the mower ready for action tomorrow (assuming it doesn't rain). I filled up the fuel tank, got the plugged tire back on the machine, leveled the deck, and repositioned the steering wheel so that it's now mostly centered when the wheels are pointed straight.  I also sprayed some more weed ( Read more... )
