Sweet lord what have I done? The bad rash I had last night has become a horrendous rash today. My skin looks like I'm about to audition for the role of Killer Croc in the upcoming Suicide Squad movie, but my bigger concern is how swollen my arms are.  The rash on my neck is also swollen, but it doesn't seem quite as serious as my arms are. I didn't do much of anything to note today aside from getting more stuff (repair items and groceries) for the house and running them down there.

However, it may be worth noting that It looks like there were some poison ivy or poison oak or poison sumac vines in with the grape vines. I've got a pretty nasty rash going on on my arms and around my ( Read more... )

This morning I slept in till 9am, then got up and started doing more cleaning in the kitchen. I think/hope I'll be more or less "done" with that project after another session or two. I was pretty dehydrated when I woke up, so I figured that I could rehydrate while washing dishes and things before going outside to continue yardwork.

Spent most of the morning and afternoon mowing and trimming, and then dad came over with his bad ass trimmer/saw and took down some of the brush growing around the periphy of the burn pile as well as some brush/sapling/trees that had grown around some trees on the back of the property.  We still need to bring down a lot of brush along the back side ( Read more... )

I'l be heading over to the house to do more kitchen-cleaning/arranging shortly, and possibly more sweeping if I finish with the dishes and things quickly enough. I plan to spend the night at the house and get up early to mow the lawn and start doing more work to clean up the yard.

Tonight I did more dishes, cabinets, drawers, etc., as well as cleaning up a grill press (which I swear I had cleaned before putting into storage) by disassembling it and the liberal application of degreaser with a lot of scrubbing. Today I got the porch lamp mounting studs cut shorter and put it all back together.

The next project on my agenda is cleaning house, laying down some roach poison/bait, and getting the kitchen ready to use.  I swept the floors in the spare room, hallway, bathroom, living room, kitchen, and utility room, and I placed some of the poison-baits in the ( Read more... )

Tonight I picked up more supplies from Lowes ::sigh:: and then headed down to the house. I got the porch light wired in and mounted, but the studs for the lamp need to be cut down shorter so that I can use the finished cap nuts instead of regular nuts. Today I went out to the house after work and painted the mounting block for the porch light.  I'm not entirely happy with it, but for now it will be fine.  I also used the garden rake to strip away most of the dead grass and weeds along the left front side of the house since the grass and weeds were already showing signs of new growth despite ( Read more... )

Today I got up around 8:30 and got started on the porch lamp fixture.  Yesterday I had dad check out the wiring with me and we determined that while it was done a little strangely, it was still mostly correct.
