The automatic fan control on my 8800 GTS seems to be borked. It always runs on 100%. Now every time I start my computer I have to manually set it to 50% through software. Manually of course, since the software isn't smart enough to remember the setting. I'd hate to have to throw out a perfectly capable card, especially since I spent a fair amount ( Read more... )

Are you using SpeedFan for the manual controlling?

Also, you should be able to tweak it from your BIOS on startup.

I'm using Leadtek's own Winfox software in Windows. I don't remember seeing a setting for GPU fan in the BIOS.

two years ago? that's like ages, get a new one XD or buy a passive heat sink

true, but if you get yourself a card equally powerful but new it consumes less power and produces less heat so it's less noisy ;)
