Bob Rae just dropped out of the Liberal leadership race. So Ignatieff is the only candidate left, and he's almost certain to be the next Liberal leader.

That means:
- the coalition is dead
- neocon as the PM, neocon as Leader of the Opposition
- Harper's little stunt worked

We are SO FUCKED.

I agree on our status but I can't agree as to the reasons. Yes, we need to get rid of Harper and his band and no, Iggy is not quite the answer. However, the reason that he is not the answer lies much more with his approach to dealing with issues than his politics from what I've seen.

My impression of him is that of an elite academic, with a disconnect from and even a disdain for the everyday problems of the average Joe or Jane. He does not seem to have the politician's touch or the political seasoning to generate any confidence. I've yet to see anything to change my mind. Kind of like Dion without the compassion.

As far as Bob Rae goes, he is the LAST thing we need. Another left wing tax and spend guy. Do you remember what he did to Ontario as Premier and NDP leader? He messed up so badly he made Harris and his wacko bunch of Conservatives look good by comparison. So good, in fact, Harris was elected! Ontario paid for that as much as they paid for Rae, if memory serves.
