So I've spent the last month and a half writing my thesis...it's pretty much all I do, day in and day out. I just finished writing Chapter 6 (of 10 planned chapters). So Saddam Hussein is going to be executed. I've always been against capital punishment, and you know what? Even in this case, I'm still against it. Killing prisoners -- even despotic, dictator prisoners like Saddam -- is not something civilized people should do, and it's certainly not something they should rejoice in. I've been here for a week now, which is hard to believe. There are a lot of things I like about this place: food is a bit cheaper than home and produce is fresher, sweets and alcohol are significantly cheaper, the weather is much milder and there's no snow, and life doesn't revolve around the automobile nearly as much: the main shopping area in ( Read more... )
