I've never been terribly impressed with Brian Michael Bendis's ability to write. I kind of liked Ultimate Spider-Man for a while, until I realized that he was never going to speed things up and that he was more interested in having characters spout annoying Mamet-lite dialogue than in having Spider-Man show up in a book called Ultimate Spider-Man. I do wish it had English subtitles; being that it's for an older audience, the show's not quite as easy to follow unaided as, say, Keita Amemiya's super-robot series Tekkouki Mikazuki. I watched 2001: A Space Odyssey for the first time the other night. It's a pretty good movie, although certainly too slow for its own good in some parts.
