I was feeling rather odd and aware Saturday. Sort of how my own little job search and unknown future isn't as big of a deal as I may think it is. A few things made me come to one of those realizations everybody has every few months/years about slowing down and just enjoying life ( Read more... )

you live in college park and didn't turn your gas on...

I'm thinking about doing that as well this next year but I have heard a rumor that college park still has to pay whatever minimum the gas company charges...and then at the end of the year they fine you for all this...any truth to this?

also...do you know how much it costs to get the gas activated if I want to have gas in just the winter months...or if I can even do a month to month with them?

I suppose I should ask the gas company and college park...but figured I would ask somebody with experience first.

I haven't heard about them charging, I guess I won't totally find out until I move out.

I believe it was maybe a $100 deposit? Not sure if there was an activation fee...it's been a while since I called them. The whole reason I never turned it on was because the company they use for credit checks had my information all screwed up. They asked for my social security number and the name that popped up was somebody else's--apparently somebody hit the wrong number.

It's not too bad without the heat. I live on the bottom floor in the coldest room of the apartment. It was COLD, but I had a space heater so I was fine. It's definitely cheaper that way...I remember we used to get some gigantic gas bills.

yeah...this past winter we had bills in the hundreds...bring our individual utilities up to like 70 dollars a month...I'll do anything this year to save money...
