Life stuff...

Went to see the Doc on Wed. Scary visit for me. I only see a doc when I have part of my body falling off. I thought it was bad allergies or perhaps a cold that just wouldn't leave... I get there, they stick me on a breathing machine for 15 minutes, take an EKG of my heart, tell me I have an infection in my left lung, I have high blood pressure ( Read more... )

WTF?? Any chance the BP & heart issues are related to the infection & will get better when it does?

Maybe on the BP. HP runs in my family. My mother has been on meds for it since she was 32. The Doc thinks that the BP might be caused by the Allergy medication that I've been using. Claritin-D, Zyrtec-D, etc... the stuff with the 'D' in it. He told me that I have to stop taking anything with D in it as well as drastically reduce my caffeine intake. Sigh. If you know me, I just about live on caffeine.

As for the heart issue, I have an extra heart beat that appears randomly. My mom told me that she has that too. Probably not too worry about it too much. The Doc seemed a little concerned but we'll just have to see on my next visit. He was showing me the EKG chart (my first) and all the extra beats. You know it's a good conversation with a Doc when he starts out by saying "This is what a normal heart beat should look like and here's what yours looks like..." Sigh.

Everything I have heard about extra heart beats is that they usually aren't serious. But yeah, that's quite a conversation to have with your doctor.

I had to quit caffeine several years ago for health reasons and it wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be. I drink decaf now, though not every day. It still works as a pick-me-up and I appreciate a good cup of coffee much more than I did when I was drinking it regularly.

You're in a scary situation, but it sounds like it's fixable--so hooray for that!

take care of yourself and do what the doc says, then when you've proven yourself a nice compliant patient you can talk to him about what to do to get off the meds :)

and yay for being debt free!!!!!! it is such a feeling of comfort!
being a grownup is boring, though :)

I'll try. Thankfully none of the meds are long term. They are all under 30 days.

Being out of debt is a good feeling. Being out of debt with money back in my savings will feel even better. hehe :-) "being a grownup is boring, though" Seriously! So many toys I want to buy right now. Rapier Kit, Period Tent, big ole Truck, etc... sigh, all things in time I suppose.

Thanks! :-)
Worse part is working 65 hour work weeks while feeling like shiite. Both of these will soon pass though.

Congrats on getting out of debt! That's HUGE!!!!

Welcome to this side of being old. Funny how you have a birthday and then BANG! They set you up with more meds than candy. You and Raph need to compare pill cases. But good job getting to the doctor instead of waiting for something catastrophic.

Thanks, but as I said, I'll be poor for awhile now. Worth it though. I hope to pay for more things in cash.

Thanks again for the helmet covering "class" light night. Since I am mostly going to stay put this weekend, I'll try to get one made. :-)

Get better soon. Scary stuff when that happens, but at least you are being taken care of!

Debt free rocks.

Thank you and true enough. I hope your horsie is doing better too. Emily is having fun with her new lease horse. It should be a good weekend for horsie activities.
