Planes, trains, and automobiles

Well, okay, maybe just trains & automobiles...

I've decided to start bussing/training it to work, since it will save me about $100 a month...  In preparation for this great travel adventure, I decided to check RTD Denver's website for an itinerary...  Now, bear in mind that the County Line Station is southeast of the I25 & Broadway station... 70 mins? To go how far?

I wanted to do this in Bellingham, but I found I would ride the bus for 45-60 min to go the distance I drove in 12-15 min. Instead I switched to driving the miata to work which gets 32 mpg in the city.

About 25 miles. But, if I catch the correct train (the one that does NOT take me north only to go south again), it only takes about 55 mins... Which is about 25 minutes longer than I can drive it. But, at $4 a gallon, I'm willing to spend the extra time on the transit system, since I don't have the luxury of two cars, The next car is definitely a hybrid. Or maybe a Tesla. (assuming I can come up with $109 K for one)

I have been eying hybrids as well (they ruined the gas mileage on the new miatas - under 20 in the city). Sat in a Prius recently. Would never buy the car. You can't get any luxury elements like leather seats and my head touches the roof no matter where I sit. Its a mechanically sound car with good mileage, just think it is being marketed wrong and being built for midgets.

By and for midgets. :D Good to know, about the head touching the roof... Not that I would have that problem, but my Dad would, if I were driving him around. :)
