memories of baby dolls and suicide

I was five years old. Bath time was my favorite thing in the world...it was like recess in a little porcelain pool...like a puddle with no mud or ringworms. I wasn't allowed to take bubble baths, though, because they gave me urinary tract infections ( Read more... )

i think that was the worst of it...she wasn't trying to be abusive, she was just really young and jocular, and didn't think that it might make a young child codependent and clingy for life. ;)

yeah, i laugh at it now. she also used to change lyrics of pop songs to make them all about her. like "there's no sunshine when i'm gone..."

And I used to read Edgar A. Poe stories to my then 6-year old daughter.

Weebles. You know how they wobble, but don't fall down....well, they do sink in a tub. And they sink like a stone! I remember that too.

my mom used to read the old testament to me. i think that trumps yours.

but if i were a little girl (ahem), i'd like to be read poe. specifically about lenore.

i realized in adulthood that the toys i played with weren't actually weebles, they were fischer-price 'little people' (6cm cylindrical pals with molded plastic hair), but my mom always knew them as weebles so amber and i did as well. and weebles just is a cuter name than 'little people'. i love those plastic little fuckers.
