Associates degrees are supposed to be the new age high-school diploma. Everyone has them, thank you to community colleges. Henceforth, I am going for a PhD. I think I'll get a job at Starbucks after that.

I would send polite but firm letters to the dean's of both institutions explaining this travesty of justice and see if they can help. When citizen's who feel mistreated call the Mayor's office (happen's quite frequently), the Mayor's underlings call the department head involved and usually something happen's rather quickly to straighten it out...
Just a thought,
