I haven't made a big dent in the word count, but I have a much better idea of the structure of the WIP. And I have engaged my 13-year-old daughter as beta reader and cheerleader. It's fun to have a well-read teen to bounce ideas off of. As much as I love having support from my online friends, it's much better to have a flesh-and-blood person I can't ignore.

It's great that you have a clearer idea of the WIP's structure. That's a big step! And hooray for an in-house cheerleader and plot consultant!

Oops! I forgot to check in myself!

I handed in my rough draft of a new YA novel to my editor and agent. For the rest of JoNo, my goal is to write 500 words/day M-F toward a new middle grade. Starting today!

Middle grade? That's something new, isn't it? Good luck with your new project. And congratulations on handing in the draft of the YA.

Hooray everyone! Look at all this great forward progress: revisions, WIPs, keynote addresses, book launches! Even those who have made less progress than they wanted *still* made good strides. Nice work!

As for me, I finished my first JoNo goal and turned in my WIP to my agent yesterday. I hope he likes it!

My second goal is to outline my next project. I have some general plot and character sketches, and now that the WIP is out of my hands, I'll have time to focus on the shiny new idea and hopefully pull together a concrete outline in the next month.

Keep up the good work!

I'm always late to these check-ins! You all are doing awesome!

I took the day off work today and am officially setting the verse novel aside to simmer while I jump into revisions for the steampunk project.

starting.....right.....now!
