Athalon 64 dual core is your best bet.

Either branch of graphics card is much of a muchness, as ever, buy from the second best batch of cards relesed. You may also want to look at crossfire/sli.

Sli... now theres a complication. Have you heard any numerical estimates of what performance boost two cards give?

I know it would be too simple if two cards were twice as good as one.

While there is an advantage, nothing current takes advantage of the technology so it's true potential is unknow. The main effect atm is that both cards run cooler/quieter. We'll have to wait and see what happens when games are coded for the hardwear.
