I've been frozen out of my Facebook account because it's challenging my account name, "Jordan Bassior" -- which is not only the name I've used on that account for years, but actually is my name, and the one I use with my friends face-to-face ( Read more... )

Indeed, plus now it's even more dystopian since they discontinued analog TV... so if anyone starts up a standard definition analog TV station run out of the back of an RV, it'll be that much more edgy and "20th-century" feeling, consistent with the pre-digital ethos!

I've (and pretty much abandoned) here. I'm on InsaneJournal & Dreamwidth for what little I do that would have been LJ-ish now. Never did FaceBook, but it seems that more and more I'm hearing of people either going to MeWe or at least starting something there as a backup -- and FB must be worried as they seem to be locking accounts that have the nerve to *mention* MeWe. Even I have an account there, for what that might worth.

That's very odd, considering that a lot of my friends and family have fake names under socks because they post a lot of political stuff and don't want to be canned.

LOL, my brother has a profile pic of a fat islander in a man-bra. His place of employment is listed as "Geezys Discount Tugs" and the background pic is of a TSA agent kneeling in front of a guy asking, "Are you carrying explosives?" while the guy replies, "Just this bomb-ass dick". Facebook staff somewhere said, "Sounds legit. Lets hassle this Jordan Bassior character."

I have had a similar problem with FaceBook. I have created new accounts there several times due to being censored and banned from posting more than once. They demand that I prove my identity before I can use FB once again every time that happened they demanded giving them a copy of my drivers license or birth certificate (WTF !), like that will ever happen, not. The major problem with FACE BOOK is that they are not a truly FREE SPEECH platform. If someone becomes offended by a particular post, well ... LJ is (it seems) to be an outlet that allows for unfettered Speech and Thoughts without censorship. If LJ evolved into more of an interactive site like FACEBOOK but kept its unfettered Free Speech and censorship free ability to post w/e I believe LJ would become the leading Web Site on the internet. I have given up on FB. I do use Twitter now as well though I was blocked once for posting "The Only Good Muslim is a Dead Muslim", haha. But they let me back on after demanding that I delete that post. LJ needs to develop beyond its ( ... )
