I think of you every time I feel guilt about not writing 'fic anymore. I have not given up entirely, but I have not finished anything other than very short pieces in the past 2 years.

My biggest news is that I fell off a horse (not mine) on July 25, and was out of work for a month, with a broken collarbone that required surgery (I now have a metal plate for the rest of my life) and 4 broken ribs. Not the horse's fault at all; I fainted. And we were moving out pretty well, so I hit the ground hard. BUT I am riding again :)

And... Ben and I will be in Montreal for ConCept in a couple of weeks... will you be there, or at least somewhat available? Email me privately if so. (quietann at LJ will work.) Ben is helping with dealers' room for Montreal Worldcon next year, so this is a chance for him to meet some of the people he will be working with, and see the convention center.

Havin ahd a horse try to roll over on me, I am very much aware of just how high off the ground those things are. Congrats of riding again.

ConCept is in Montreal? Really? I must look into that. But Worldcon I shall definitely be attending. A whole gang of us are coming together for that.

I'll contact you if I decide on ConCept. Promise.

Hernia? Ouch! Guess this means you won't be able to use flogging as a discipline technique on those talkative students. In all seriousness, I am sorry to hear about your medical problems. Dealing with the aches and foibles of an aging chassis aren't fun. Sigh... Why can't we get extended warranty service on our bodies?

Hopefully your 'falling out of fandom' proves to be more of a 'taking a short breather' response instead. I'm still hoping that someday you'll write a hard slash Snagrid. *wink*

If McCain/Palan win the election, I may give serious consideration to moving to Canada. I shudder to think of what the US will be like if we get 4 more years of 'Bush' league politics.

I'll clean out the office for you and set up a spare bed if you need to escape.

As for extended warranties...we were not constructed to last much more than forty years. So you knwo how things are with warranties: the day after they end, the machine developes all kinds of ailments. :-)

So sorry to hear about the hernia. Heed the warning of the school nurse; if it hurts more, if it swells or the contents feel hard or tender, go directly to the emergency room. Things can get stuck in the hernia neck, where it exits the body wall, and strangulate, and that is a bad bad thing.

The nurse made me swear, and I would. It's been three weeks and other than the fact I had to sleep on my couch for 10 days (the only place I could sleep on my back) and the fact that the 'fat' pants are the only pair I can wear, I seem to be fairly okay. But, yes, pain = hospital, I promise. (Have increased fibre intake also.)

Toronto is looking more blue these days, too. Really scary for someone who works in the arts. I'm thinking I'll have to vote Green as well.
Good to see you again lase week. I did get to Khao Thai on Thursday. Maybe you'll be able to join me next time - probably January. Hopefully you'll be in better health.

The art community in QC is freaking out. Problem is they can't tell people who to vote for since no leader is dealing with culture. Well, The Bloc, as of this morning is, due to the popularity of the Youtube 'phoque' and 'tit' video.

Sigh.

See you in January.

Hernias are not fun - I had one when I was twelve, and had to have emergency surgery. Seriously, if it gets hard, or you start to run a fever or vomit, go to the hospital at once. *hug*

Will do, promise. It's a lot better, so I hope if there has to be surgery, it can wait until holidays. A supply teacher in with my brats = absolute disaster.
