I didn’t know him, as my father hated him and my mother had tired of trying to include him in the family, as he was an unreliable, temperamental alcoholic for most of his life. I only met him a handful of times. I can’t truly be sad at his passing, ( Read more... )

I totally know how you feel. I found out that my great Uncle Harold died a couple months ago. I didn't even know that I had a great Uncle Harold until two weeks ago, but he had a huge family and was even the v.p. of the Manaco company. I felt really confused because even though I didn't know him, I was upset that a whole part of my family had basically been kept secret. The reason was because my father's father, my grandfather, never got along with his other brothers.

Thanks, Carrie. We found out because my cousin (his niece) called my mom because they're probating his will and needed to talk to my mom. We're still confused why - we think he disinherited my father, which he should have.
