I feel lied to. And an idiot for feeling guilty about not recycling. It might be worth doing in the future. You'll know when it's worth it because homeless people will start collecting plastic bottles and old newspapers.

Yeah, I still feel somewhat guilty I've not been recycling. The only thing that makes recycling worth it is the good feeling you get doing it.

But if it makes you feel any better, landfills create cheap (albeit completely safe when properly engineered) property for golf courses and poor people's housing. So throwing things away benefits someone. And there's plenty of land in Canada and Russia nobody will ever want, so there's plenty of room for the future :)
