Let's skip definitions and go to examples, first because they more illustrate my point: Athens at the end of the Peloponnesian War. Carthage after the Second Punic War. Japan and Germany at the end of World War II. A victory that shatters a nation so completely, it must unconditionally surrender with no hope of resistance nor regaining its former power or prestige for generations.
Are the actions of Hezbollah, Iran, and/or Syria a threat to United States security? Are the actions of Israel? Explain to me the threat and how action should be implemented to eliminate that threat.
The idea that peace can or will be accomplished through a total domination by one race/people/nation is a childish notion, produced by what is becoming an outdated worldview that still seems to think that everything comes down to winning or losing
( ... )
Peace requires more than mere domination, it also requires a benevolence and an understanding between peoples. There is an interplay between the two, however.
How is it becoming an outdated world view? Is Daoism coming into fashion globally suddenly?
AND don't you think that if we left them alone they'd be LESS of a threat to us? Isn't one of the main reasons they ARE a threat to us because we don't apparently know how to leave other countries be?
No. I think it'd give them more latitude to fight us. We can't leave them alone due to the dependance on oil. Even if we were to give into their demands, they would see it as a sign of weakness and continue to fight us. Or if we left the region, they'd try to dominate each other and then you have Europe and Asia wanting in on trying to pick the winners and we'd eventually have to intervene to protect our interests in oil and our political alliances.
the only thing that really scares me about your position is the last bit about global dominance. what do you mean by this? is it ethical that we should even be seeking that ? i think that that is some of the problem with our country we are power hungry. and that is scary.
I mean our position as the dominant military, political, cultural, and economic power in the world, able to assert our power globally.
I do believe it is ethical to seek this, because I believe it benefits the world and the American people simultaneously. I have to leave this vague or I'd be writing for quite some time to explain everything I think and all the exceptions of how our policies don't benefit everybody everywhere. Suffice it to say I believe, despite all the evils we've caused in the world, we have been a positive guiding force for liberty, equality, and the rule of law unprecedented in history - and I don't think many would challenge that these are among the greatest values ever conceived.
I do not believe it would be desirable to live in a world of equals or have several nations counterbalacing each other. That caused World War I and it is not worth repeating.

It's an outdated worldview because it wears identity with the nation/state as the highest identity possible.
This worldview will realize its limitations and evolve to a worldview that identifies with the entire ecosphere, then onward to higher centers...
