While anticipating the release of EDEN LOG and OUTLANDER on Netflix, nothing else on my queue sounds very appealing in the interim.

We just watched ICHI THE KILLER and THE MACHINE GIRL. Quite the gorefest, let me tell you. I'm ready for something a little lighter after that double feature. lol ( Read more... )

I lean towards foreign or indie films, here are some that I enjoyed lately:

Goldfish Memory
The Nomi Song

Neat. Thanks! The Cashback description reminds me a little of SPECIAL, starring Michael Rapaport. I really liked that one!

I have been on a huge Jet Li binge lately. I don't know how you feel about cheesy martial arts movies (maybe seen most of these?)... Kiss of the Dragon was great, and so was Hero. Fist of Legend was pretty good too. I also saw this movie Ong Bak (I think?) with Tony Jaa, a Muay Thai guy who is completely insane and also looks great without a shirt on. The plot sucked (actually I'm pretty sure there wasn't one) but it had elephants in it, including an adorable baby elephant, which was cool. And significant amounts of footage featuring a shirtless Tony Jaa, which was also fine. On the topic of Thai movies, have you seen the original Bangkok Dangerous ( ... )

We seem to have very similar taste in movies. The Long Kiss Goodnight is so great. That's definitely a good one to cheer you up. Also, I love Jet Li and cheesy martial arts movies. Luckily there never seems to be a shortage of them.

I just added Ong Bak to my list and it suggested Iron Monkey. Apparently Quentin Tarantino retranslated, rescored and subtitled a campy Golden Harvest action flick but left the fight choreography and wire-fu acrobatics intact. Sounds interesting. I'll have to let you know how both of those go.

I started watching the original Bangkok Dangerous once when it was on HBO. It started a bit slow but seemed very interesting. I always meant to go back and finish it but forgot all about it. Now I can!

I'll have to check out Samurai Champloo. I've never seen that but Cowboy Bebop is an old favorite. I used to watch anime all the time. I've fallen out of the habit, except for Afro Samurai recently. The first one was pretty good.

Yay! Lots of good stuff. Thanks Roo :)
