We have a family of rats that live in the cactus in the back yard. Normally they don't bother us and we don't bother them. However, I think one of them snuck in while Chris was grilling on the back porch

In all fairness to the rat, that "if you can't see it, it can't see you" tactic completely works against the ravenous Bugblatter beast of Traal. Not that there's any resemblance between said Bugblatter and your husband, of course.
Glad to hear it was resolved successfully. Terribly handy thing to have, a claw.
A couple of years ago I was taking my dog out back and saw something run along the fence. I thought it was a small possum or something. Nope. Turned out to be a large Tokay Gecko!
What a funny story! Poor little ratty...call me crazy but I'd rather have to face a baby rat than giant scary winged cockroachers like you get in San Diego.
But what's this about surgery? Did you have knee surgery or something? Are you OK?
I did. I had ACL replacement surgery last Friday. The knee is healing pretty quickly. I got an allograft (cadaver graft) so I have a zombie knee now. It's healing pretty quickly. I started physical therapy yesterday. Swelling is minimal and I can already walk on it but I'm still using a cane or crutches for assistance.
I've sworn off the percocet they gave me because the side effects aren't worth it. I'll just sticking with alternating Tylenol and Advil. And hope my poor tummy recovers soon. Ugh.
really cute story! When I was a kid we had rented a house that had monster rats. I have a few stories about them I felt sad when the monster rat trap would kill them. My cat never tried to chase them... because they were that big... and one night I thought I had my cat climb up on my bed and fell asleep on me. Only to find out the next day that the cat was out all night and waiting for me at the door the following morning. Fun times.
I am sure that he will remember that people = the claw!!!
