Join badparents to reflect on all of your badparent moments...lol...I actually won a contest there once for a picture of my son rummaging through the freezer and eying the bottle of Jack Daniels...
I put Taylor in a toddler bed at 15 months...because she climbed out fo her crib...that was enough to send me into heart attack mode....fears of toppling cribs...
I doble gated her doorway, so she couldn't climb out, and used the kind of gate that isn't easilly climbable....not that it stopped her or anything...
There are also these bed guards...I used to have one...but they are like rails (think hospital bed) only they are meshy and they are supposed to keep kids from rolling out of the bed...however, I've found they don't work terribly well with toddler beds...they are meant for adult sized beds...because they wedge between the matress and box spring.
Maybe put the papasan in a play yard...or just gete off your door...if that's what works for her. :)
Before we were given the toddler bed, I was planning on buying a twin bed and using it w/those rails. I think for now I'm going to go w/gating the door and let her sleep where she has been until she can use the toddler bed.
Ah, but we don't have central air, and it gets ungodly hot in there w/the door shut! (and now the paranoid part of me wonders if we could easily jump out of the window in case of fire....)
I'm actually afraid of our bedroom windows---they're the kind that can open and flip down so you clean the outside (as if I've ever done that), but I seem to forget that EVERYTIME I open the damned thing and get knocked on my head by it.
It only made me laugh because she didn't get hurt.....
Fallon hated his crib for a long time and I just slept with him most nights. Of course, he actually slept. I really don't have any solutions but a toddler bed seems safer than a crib if she's going to get up at night and wander around. I'm glad you don't have stairs. Also, a babygate can be your best friend. I have to keep one up all the time because Fallon can open the front door now.

Keep bedroom doors closed at night in case of fire. My Husband reminds me every dang night. :)
