No, I don't think it's strange at all! I did wonder if I should've left it as a sketch. I'm always a little reluctant to color things because pencil can be erased, and fixed over and over again, but once the ink (or color pencil) touches the paper - that's it. And there's a different feeling to sketches, always. (

Joy, so, so cute! I have never seen anything like this before! Both look totally adorable and darling! They are what, around six or seven? As for the book vs. scroll thingy, if you just take out the central (spine) fold at the back, and also remove the depth illusion of the book, it will become a piece of papyrus. And yes, I am ecsatatic to note that we actually have a fairly potent Alexander bug going around everywhere, inspiring stories and art! Very happy that you seem to have caught it too! And that your hidden talents are coming out!
Alexander bug - or is it just "love in the air" what with springtime? (At least in the northern hemisphere.) Heehee! Love for AtG, of course! I hope it bites everyone! I found it very interesting that both you and selket said something along the lines of never seeing something like this before... On the one hand I'm very glad if I've managed to make something creative, but on the other hand I didn't mean to extrapolate too much - I mean, it's no good if it's not recognizably Alexander and Hephaestion! Actually your Alexander icon was one of the images I considered when drawing this, and as for Hephaestion... at least the hair and eye color are similar to the movie ... d'oh! But at least they're a bit more recognizable, I think, than the images from the anime "Reign." I don't know if you've seen any of those but Alexander's hair is dark and Hephaestion's hair is blue, to start with. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing; from what I know about it people got really creative with that show!
"Love" is always in the air when Alex and Heph are concerned. I think it's the springtime that has produced this bug!
I was thinking again of the two in your drawing. Alex looks like the way most people seem to describe him, perhaps influenced by Renault. But the reason (I think) Heph seems so "different" is that this is the way I would expect Judith Tarr's Hephaistion (in Lord of the Two Lands) to look when he was very young. Tall. Fetaures extremely regular, like carved in fine marble but which would produce a "wild-boy" look when he laughs. I can imagine your Heph laughing and how that would simply transform his face into a naughty, adorable imp. And of course, the color of his hair that you have drawn - absolutely gorgeous in the last pic. Whether it be "the heart of a flame" or Tarr's "ruddy bronze".
These are so cute! I like all of them, though my favourite is the second one, with book and nature around them. Hope to see more of these-you've done great job!

I am completely unfamiliar with "Reign". :(
