WARNING - This post is a review of the book The Da Vinci Code and it's got spoilers galore, so if you intend to read it you might want to skip this post. ( You've been warned... )
I dropped my copy of The Da Vinci Code in the street before I'd finished it and couldn't be bothered to buy a new one. In fact, if I'd noticed that I'd dropped it, I think I'd have kicked it into the gutter.
Funny you should mention it - I'm doing a workshop at the U of Basel this Saturday on religious thillers. DVC is my starting point, although I'll be comparing it with religious thrillers by several other authors. This was a request, btw - I didn't choose the topic. And I can't say that I'm really wild about any of the stories I'm doing, though they can be entertaining, and I thnk the religious dynamics are pretty fascinating.
Late, as usual but all I can add is that I'm very sad that Ron Howard and Tom Hanks (both of whom I respect) thought that this dreck would make a worthwhile movie. Angels & Demons was even worse.
How the heck does Dan Brown have such a following?
