RIP, Ned Harkness

It is with great sadness, that I announce the following.

This morning, we lost Ned Harkness at the age of 89. AP article

We weren't around in 1954, and many of us didn't even know we'd be RPI students in 1985. Our best memories are from 1995. But we all know what he meant to RPI hockey!

That is a pity. I was at the Fieldhouse when they raised a banner in his honor at the west end. It is doubtful that RPI would have retained its varsity hockey program all these years had it not been for Harkness delivering that championship in '54. Hell, he built the program from what was merely a team.

I would expect there will be a commemorative patch or something on the unis this season.
