I've noticed a huge difference between LDS here and LDS out in Colorado... although there are great people in both pools... it's a shame when the organization as a whole does something jarring.

Lots of people think Wiccan is Witchcraft - the evil, devil worshipping, spawns of satan witchcraft. Although, to be fair, Wiccans (on the whole) do believe in spells, magic, etc. And per the LDS church, (and many other religions) anything "magic" related is considered evil and Satan-esque. Wiccans, however, with their code of conduct, are firmly against causing any harm of another being. And (in a nutshell) most of the spells they cast are to help them come in touch nature and be happier. It's a spiritual magic. Kind of like meditation, but with a twist.

I am really glad you gave the person a more "full" view of what Wiccan is. After all, what she was getting so far was a lot of "Wiccan is evil, evil, evil witchcraft, burn the witch!" stuff.

My sister is Wiccan. :)

i didn't know that about Amber. cool. guess that gives you a unique perspective on it, too. lol
The giving a more full view was partly my point. I can't imagine being the family member and having all of my family freaking out that I am devil worshipping. No wait, I can imagine: been there, hated it. No wonder I defended it so hard, eh?

I had to say something. I liked your response. However anything you read on the Lds religions stance on the wiccan religiom is goping to be outdated and antiqainted.. so I dunno.

Also people will twist passages from the bible to suit their own needs and purposes.

But good response.

Thanks! and I totally agree about twisting words to suit needs. i'm sure that happens with everything, not just religion, too. Just think about arguements between people. One person said "such and such" the other person heard "suck and such" and well, that makes all the difference.
