I've never had that problem with Mr. Jefferson. I went down to the Illinois State Fair one year with $200 in twos. And I had something like 47 consecutively-numbered twos last August, which sadly got spent at IKEA and a gas station (so I was giving out a pile of them in each place).
I like the guard's comment: "Why would he fake a two dollar bill?"
That is hysterical! It's quite sad how many don't know those exist. Although I have to say, they're just not used out this way, nor are $1 coins. I've seen 'em used at the airport, but I think it must be a more East Coast thing, because I swear they don't exist out West. @_@
i only ever see the $1 coins come out of change machines for stamps here. I never see them otherwise. The two dollar bills are pretty scarcely used here, too.
Thank you for posting this! I giggled so much over the guard and his reaction or confusion over the matter when he first got there. I went to the grocery store with my mom and on the way was telling her this story THEN she made me tell the cashier. =| But, it did make me giggle still. =)
