What a lovely reunion. I smiled at Laurie's new sophistication, and laughed when he lost it again. Can't have Laurie getting too sophisticated!
I can't remember how far into the war they were at the start of this series, but I really hope when Ralph comes home again it will be for good. *happy sighs*
Hehe Yes, Laurie may have picked up a little Polari but he's still the same Spud.
He went to work for Poynter after Michaelmas term in 1941 so a year later is the end of 1942. Things were rough in the Battle of the Atlantic at that point, and the shortages in Britain were very severe. The only reason Ralph would be in port for any length of time would be that his ship had taken a hit, but he won't mention that to Laurie.
Hooray! Poynter! He's rapidly becoming my favourite original character in any fandom. It's good to see Laurie managing to overcome some of his antipathy towards anyone who is obviously gay, even if he still has quite a way to go. I also like the way you have Laurie describle the lieutenant as almost handsome!
"If I leave again, you're coming with me." Ralph always knows just what to say! I really enjoyed this! Great follow up. It will be interesting to see how the boys will do when the war is finally over. The development of these two, both together and separated is one of the best I've read within The Charioteer fan based stories. Keep up the great work!

And he really does have a new manuscript. *grin*

It is a bit tricky to have Laurie grow and mature and still not change who he essentially is. I'm glad you think this is working.
