I have never thought twice about a dad being at a spend the night party (if the mom is there). I mean, I think it's nice that you want to have everyone feel safe... but I'd never think to keep Mabry home from one for that reason. The two teenage boys? Oh, yes. Totally a no-no to me if I don't know the family. But if I did know them, I wouldn't have an issue with that either. It's funny what we all see as red flags and what we don't.

until recent years I was the same way...then a prominent doctor here in town was convicted of molesting a friend of his 8 year old daughter at a slumber party and that discussion at work revealed it being very common for girls from "good christian families" being victims by other trusted men of good standing. you just never know. Now...my girls could stay at your house any day..because i reeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaally know y'all. Ike and Tanya yes...and of course I am here when there girls are here. But for the average aquaintence.....no no no!!

That makes sense. I guess all of the people I'd ever send my kids to spend the night with are already really close friends. I'm so far out of the public school setting that I just didn't think about fringe adults whose kids are good friends of my kids.

Unfortunately, its the boys that were molested by the trusted church youth leader that I know. It is always good to be on the safe side.
