Having never left the country of course I can't make any claims on the transport issue, only to mention that in Australia we had the same concerns and disbelief, right up until practically the very last day before the Games opened in Sydney that the public transport system would fall far, far short of what was required to get people to and fro without deadly accidents and statewide traffic jams. In the end though it all worked out and a lot of people felt very 'Y2K bug' sheepish about getting worked up about the whole thing

To be fair they weren't REAL kangaroos on bikes, they were massive inflated plastic kangaroos with people inside them riding bikes. Which to me made it even better. We had tap dancers too. Real classy show we put on down here in Australia, let me tell you.
Not yet. We've just had our AGM (last Tues) and the new social secretary hasn't had a chance to organise this coming year's play-readings, but it's in the pile. :-)
thanks - it got me onto an arts council list for mentoring and masterclasses so there must be something to it. (Mind you, it only got me onto the list. It's a short list of ten, but they only take five....)
You have my heartfelt sympathy. Atlanta and most of the north half of Georgia was just insane when the Olympics were hosted here. My advice, if you can manage it: schedule your vacation time to take you out of London, that year!
