The times they are a-changing

How would you describe the last decade in one sentence?

OK! One sentence, "I have come a long way, Baby!"

My life has gone so far beyond anything one could call "ordinary change" that I went back into old journals to see what I could find. Back then I was between husbands, living with my mother, and trying to figure out ( Read more... )

When this was happening were you living with your mother in Florida and caring for her as she was aging ... or was that not the case?

I was under the impression that after your mother passed you and Honey moved to 'middle of nowhere' Oklahoma. And I thought you liked it in Oklahoma.

"You've come a long way, Baby!"

((hugs))

This was back when my mother was developing the beginnings of dementia and she needed to be watched so she wouldn't burn her house down or go for a walk and get lost.

It's one of those moments when we must do what is right, no matter what it costs us.

Wow! Boy do I wish I said that! And ten or twenty years ago, too! We are and have been a lot alike!

I wish I could have put all that in writing. When I try to explain it to my girls........they lose interest. They just can't understand what they didn't live. The do know, however, how tough it was living with their passive-aggressive father, who I finally left in 2000 after having my bout with breast cancer. We need difficult lessons, it seems. I see you've written it a while ago, but I know it still stands true. Thanks for putting so much into words. It helps to know we are not alone, or "crazy".

It helped me a lot to learn that I wasn't alone. Feel free to copy it and even edit it for your girls if you like. We are, after all, in this together.

Wow...this was an interesting read. I can relate to some of what you are saying...it is that generation. I am a bit after your generation - the next step per se but I see the difference between how I was "taught" and the young women of today.

You are actually the same age as my eldest daughter... but that's because I started so young.

I would love to point her out to you but my kids are very guarded about their privacy and won't let me do that. If you read the comments to my entries it won't take you long to figure out who they are though. *wink*

I will definitely keep a heads up and keep reading then. You are very young to be my mother's age. My mom had me pretty late...she was 36 (almost...just short of a month). She had both me and my brother in her 30s.
