Coming down

I don't know about you but the actual election day was anticlimactic. After 2 years of non-stop campaigning, it took only 2 hours after polls closed on the east coast to declare the winner. I somehow feel like something is missing, but I can't figure out what it is. With all the monumental buildup when the day comes it leaves you a bit empty.

I wouldn't want McCain thoroughly humiliated. Better to have taken Alaska - though that is unlikely. They apparently like their congressmen and senators with felony convictions, bonus for multiple convictions!

So maybe some of the Oakland Raiders should pursue careers in politics when they can't play anymore?

Wait. Now I know what is missing.
The One has to ride the sandworm and take down House Harkonnen.
It only seems fitting.

Here's what's missing after a Democratic victory: claims of fraud, getting the Supreme Court to choose a President, and so on. Why? Uhh, 'cause it didn't happen this time, or if it did it wasn't strong enough to once again steal the election for the Republicans.

Our elections have been a circus for nearly a decade and we've gotten used to the hue and cry AFTER the fact. I for one am glad this one went smoothly.

Oh, one more thing missing: Karl Rove's fat, smug face gloating all over the talk shows.

It's the media. They hype everything to the max because that's what they're selling. Reality is not a concern for them, so after the show's over, it can lead to culture shock.
