So I went to see Watchmen yesterday. I've gotta say, it was fucking awesome!

I did, however, have several issues with the movie.

Hey Luke! Glad you liked the movie. I'm here to address your complaints, which admittedly, are pretty valid ( ... )

The entire time I was reading your response, I wasn't reading plain text, I was listening to you. I could hear you in my head saying everything that you wrote, adding where I imagine you would emphasize. Is that crazy? Or are you just that awesome? Maybe it comes from reading those crazy posts of yours.

I like your explanations, particularly "Ozymandias is insane." I hadn't noticed the meaning behind his name, either. That makes a lot of sense, now that you mention it.

On 8, I just figured I'd never seen a toast where everyone didn't drink at the same time.

On 13, I was thinking those questions from an investigator's point of view. Good point on the life thing.

On 15, I meant that it didn't seem [to me] to be in Rorschach's nature to worry about the truth, but rather that he'd be more concerned with retribution. I was curious why, at this point in the movie, he cared about getting the truth out rather than punishing the guilty. Particularly given his opening line about not saving the world ( ... )

I'm not sure Ozymandias has much to fear from investigation. There doesn't seem to be any remains of his bombs, and everyone involved on the project not named Ozymandias is dead.

Rorschach got his ass handed to him trying to do his normal retribution thing. He's aware that he cannot defeat Ozymandias physically. The only way to punish him is to expose him. On a side note, in the comic, Rorschach more than once praises Harry Truman for his decision to bomb Hiroshima and Nagasaki, which makes his moral outrage at Ozy's actions...interesting.

Not that Ozy would fear the results of the investigations as incriminating him, but rather the results of the investigation providing evidence that questions Dr. Manhattan's implication, thus foiling the "common foe" plan.

Point with Rorschach. But if Dr. Manhattan is willing to kill Rorschach to keep the secret, why wouldn't he be willing to kill Ozy? I was thinking that Rorschach would try to convince Dr. Manhattan to pop Ozy. But perhaps asking that of Dr. Manhattan isn't in Rorschach's character.
