Normally I love to jump all over gaijin manga nerds (kidding) but you have to remember, right now, in America, manga is more popular with teh youngsters than it's four color left to right Western equivalent. By marketing his comic as a manga, it will succeed better with its (likely younger) target audience (Besides. His "art" style and panel layout clearly steer more towards the manga, which are likely his major influences). People who read a lot of manga actually have a hard time adjusting back to the left to right. Just ask Toaster.

So if you want to criticize it, criticize it for being a incoherent, badly drawn mess, not because it's imitating manga.

That being said, people who act like Japanese culture is this great and wondrous thing with no flaws raise my eyebrow of indignation. Though I guess it's pretty cool as long as you're not an ethnic Korean, or black, or anyone else not Japanese.
