We recently discovered our infant car seat is expired.  We got it for Jolie because it came with a fantastic jogging stroller.  But she hated the stroller and the only time we ever used it was when we went to Busch Gardens.  Then we were luckily able to keep it through Juliana.  However, Jared wanted to buy the new car seat.  Now I'm way hormonal ( Read more... )

Wow, sucks you got treated so badly at the store! We have not bought ours yet so I'm no help. I agree the bucket seats that come out of the base seem way more convenient. I have a friend who has only good things to say about the maxi cosi car seats and I've noticed they are compatible with most strollers too. I linked the website below...

honestly she probably wasn't THAT bad but I was in a pretty grumpy mood and she mentioned me looking like I was going to go into labor right then and there and I had just left the doctors where I actually took a step backwards progress wise so I lost it. But she also told me not to let my kids play with the items clearly marked for display and not intended for sale for any reason.

I've had three kids that refused to be put down for any reason at all so I fully expect to wear this one but for the times she is asleep I'd like the option of not waking/then feeding before running into the store so I definitely want the removable seat but I'm just having such a hard time because I don't want to be a cheap-o like my husband since it is our baby's safety but in the same regard we are done this time so I'm not shelling out $250 for a years worth of product I can't resell or keep. Such a hard decision!

I got nothing -- I have some Graco second-hand thing that I hate. I'm going to watch this post though, because I want to buy a new one, and I want to hear what people have to say as well.

I didn't look into infant seats at all because I hated carrying around the car seat, but to answer your question this is what we got: http://www.amazon.com/Evenflo-Tribute-Convertible-Seat-Kristy/dp/B002VUCB72/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=baby-products&qid=1309308405&sr=8-1

I picked that out because we have a limited budget (I had to also replace my three year old's car seat) and it has the same stats as the Cosco Scenera that my car seat tech friend recommended for newborns in a convertible seat. (We went with the Evenflo because I liked the purple.) Plus it means I don't have to buy her a new seat until she reaches 40lbs or outgrows the height requirement.

We got the Chicco Cortina Key Fit 22 that goes with the travel system. We got it from Baby Depot, but apparently, you didn't have a very good experience there? You were a little vague. ;) j/k. Anyway, I'll stop antagonizing you. We chose that one because it was reasonably priced, had good reviews, and looked far sturdier and more comfortable than any of the other ones we saw. All the rest looked like complete crap. This one fits snugly in its base as well, and has a built in newborn head support that can be removed when baby can hold her head up. I don't know how much the seat is by itself, but the whole system was $214 or something like that.

I think they have the set on Amazon, BTW.

is that the one where there are the latches that will go into the seat locks (down in where the seat belts are located those latches if that makes any sense at all?) I totally had one picked out and was ready to go but she just drove me up a wall and I could not justify spending money there. I hate when I lose my temper and do that because honestly I'll probably force Jared to go back if I don't find something online and buy it for me so they don't recognize me and realize I caved. Ugh.

Um, I think so. It has latches, yes, that will snap both into the coordinating stroller and the car base. We haven't installed it yet, so I'm not entirely sure about the seat belt part. But that sounds right to me. If it helps, the color scheme is kind of earthy tones, green, brown and gray.

Amazon.com honey. Sign up for the free Amazon Prime subscription and it'll be here in two days. I have a Graco Snugride that I'm very happy with, but I've heard good things about the Chicco ones as well.
