I received this one at my shower:

I haven't tried it out yet, but a friend of mine has the same one, and she said she's been happy with it.

We have this one and have used it for the last two kids. It has always worked great for us. It's nice because it has a setting where it will only transmit noise if the baby is making sounds, which I love because I don't have to listen to all the background noise in the nursery all night as a light sleeper, and I do hear it when I'm actually needed.

I looked on the Canadian site and they don't have the same one. I wonder if they would in stores.

If you're worried about it breaking or something like that and you have enough money on the gift cards get the extended warranty. I have also learned that once you buy a product make sure you register it with the manufacture. This why if something happens to the model and the store refuses to do something for you, you can contact them directly. Replace parts, or the whole unit free of charge!

I bought the cheapest one Target had, I think the brand was First Years or something, and I never had any problems with it.

This.

Our house is less than 1100 sqf. & it's all one level. There is 18 inches between our door and Lucas' bedroom door (my husband measured). We bought this Safety First and tested it out throughout the house and were happy with the results.

We had this one: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2908473 for my son, and it was horrible. It's range was bad. I keep trying to convince Hubby that we need a new one for Baby Girl, so I hope when we plug it in to check it out that it doesn't work.
